Have some fun at USA Spending.gov! $296 million went to Lutherans since Obama took office!

The other day I suggested that each and every one of you can be an investigative reporter, see that post by clicking here.

So here we are, a winter weekend, can’t do much outdoors, and maybe you aren’t into the Super Bowl, so how about having fun searching for how much of your hard earned tax dollars are going to charities—especially to ‘religious’ charities pretending to be doing the Lord’s work while spending your money!

USA Spending graphicI haven’t written about USA Spending.gov for awhile, so last night when a reader asked about a local Catholic Charities, I tried that government website again.  It is much improved because it now contains the sub-grants in addition to the amounts that are direct grants.  I think there was a grace period for grantees to get their information on sub-grants to USA Spending.gov, but they are there now.  (Here is a bit of information about how grantees need to be ready to provide sub-grant information.)

So back to the USA Spending.gov website I looked up the specific Catholic Charities my reader was interested in and was blown away when I saw the millions of dollars just one little local Catholic Charities was getting.

I then decided to just pick one of the nine federal refugee resettlement contractors (which have in the vicinity of 350 sub-grantees or sub-contractors), to see what the biggies were getting.  Here (below) is Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service which resettles refugees in your towns and cities and also agitates for amnesty for illegal aliens.

LIRS is lobbying (with your money!) as we speak for 100,000 Syrians to be admitted to the US before Obama leaves office.

Prepare to be shocked!  Since August 2008, this one ‘religious’ non-profit received $296 MILLION dollars from you in 143 transactions with federal agencies. (And, I will bet you LIRS is not the wealthiest!)

Click here and see for yourself!  (Sorry the screenshot isn’t very clear!)

I urge you all to try the website.  Unfortunately for PRO-Open Borders Catholic agencies, there are too many of them and they aren’t all in one place. So try your local Catholic Diocese first.  Then think of all the other non-profits that have their hands in your wallet and see how much and from where their grants are flowing.

They will all say they help the poor with your money, but I repeat, they are also lobbying for more (poor) migrants to be admitted to the US!  Our founding fathers must be rolling in their graves to see the federal treasury used in this way.

Then you must get the information you learn out to others beyond your circle. Maybe take your facts and write a letter to the editor. Ask to write an Op-ed for your local paper. Go on talk radio. Write a blog!  Send what you learn to your elected officials and ask why on earth they are giving your money to Open Borders Leftwing organizations masquerading as religious charities.

Come to think of it, where is the ACLU on the separation of church and state?

Who is Refaai Hamo? White House poster boy for Syrian refugees in America

Tonight, if you watch Obama’s last State of the Union address, you will see Refaai Hamo sitting with First Lady Michelle Obama.  Hamo is the personification of all Syrians coming to America according to the White House propaganda machine.

Refaai Hamo and Mohammad
A PR firm working for Lutheran Social Services of MI arranged a press conference for Hamo and his son Mohammad when they arrived in the US in December. http://www.lynnegolodner.com/the-world-around-me/why-did-the-syrian-scientists-story-go-viral/

If you have never heard the name, Refaai Hamo, just google it (there are pages of stories about him).  The gist of his story (the Left loves stories!) is that “The Scientist” had his sumptuous home blasted by a missile in Syria several years ago (stories vary on what year), and has been living in Turkey with some of his children.

In his story now made famous by several Leftwing sites (and a resettlement contractor’s PR firm!), what kind of a ‘scientist’ he is, is never mentioned. There is one mention that he was a civil engineer working as a “consultant” of some sort.  Are civil engineers considered scientists?

Stories like Hamo’s don’t just spread like wildfire. Lynne Golodner who runs a PR firm called Your People LLC was hired by LSS of MI to head their campaign on behalf of Hamo (The Scientist). I sure hope your tax dollars didn’t pay her contract. http://www.lynnegolodner.com/biography/

The missile attack supposedly killed his wife and one daughter, but in one account I read his then 14-year-old son was the victim.

According to this story, son Mohammed (now 18) is alive and well.  They reportedly were in Turkey for the last two years, so where were they for two years after that attack.  The timeline is fuzzy.

And, to add to his tale of woe, he now has stomach cancer and said that he could not get treatment in Turkey.  (But he heard about Obamacare and here he is!)

***Update*** You can’t make this up! Oopsy! No cancer! Brandon Stanton of ‘Humans of New York’ tweeted:

Dr. Hamo recently underwent surgery to have a large tumor removed from his stomach. It was benign.

Since mid-December he has been living in the Troy, Michigan area in a wealthy neighborhood.  So he didn’t have any money to pay for treatment in Turkey?  The whole story sounds fishy to me.

***Update*** If you find more on Hamo’s ‘story’ please send us links!

He has money now! Some big shot actor and filmmaker took up his story and set up a go-fund me page and has raised nearly a half million dollars for him.  My first thought was, oh good, his cancer treatment costs will not come out of the wallets of American taxpayers.  But hold on….

His federal refugee resettlement contractor (Lutheran Social Services of Michigan) will be ‘managing’ his money for him.  LOL! I bet that arrangement doesn’t last too long!

To make a long story short, the White House and the No Borders activists will use Hamo tonight as part of a massive PR campaign they are waging on America to get your minds right on the Obama Syrian influx just now getting underway.

I don’t have time to write about it, but see “Welcoming Michigan” here and its campaign with the Catholic Church in that state to tamp down any pockets of resistance to changing Michigan by changing the people.

Lutheran Social Services of Michigan—doing well by doing good!

mark Stutrud
Mark Stutrud, former CEO at LSS Michigan (and now at LSS Illinois) pulled down a compensation package valued at over $450,000 reported in 2013 Form 990.

Just as I said the other day about Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota, concerned citizens in Michigan must begin to investigate the federal resettlement contractors working in the state.

Start here with the most recent Form 990 for LSS Michigan, a $93 million a year quasi-government agency.

We thought Jodi Harpstead’s salary in Minnesota was huge, but check out the salary, benefits and related income Mark Stutrud pulled down in this 2013 Form 990. (Stutrud has since moved on to head up Lutheran Social Services of Illinois.  We can assume the CEO now in charge in Michigan is getting a similar fantastic package.)

For young up-and-comers, forget Wall Street, it’s the ‘Christian charity’ world that you should be shooting for if you want to live well while wearing the do-gooder white hat!

Good Lutherans should begin to demand answers about what is being done in the name of your faith and why LSS is in the forefront of resettling Muslims to American towns.

One last thing… Jodi Harpstead’s MALE predecessor at LSS Minnesota made much more than she did and so does Stutrud (a little income inequality in the Christian charity world?).

One more one last thing…. there is more to Hamo’s story than we are being told.  I sure hope some real investigators dig in further.

Lutheran Social Services expanding Somali Muslim population of Minnesota

I think if I were Jodi Harpstead, LSS of Minnesota’s CEO I wouldn’t be going to St. Cloud and bragging about their role in creating the largest communities of Somalis outside of Africa and on top of that saying ‘no one is getting rich doing this work.’

Jodi Harpstead

A major goal of ‘American Resistance 2016!’ is to showcase those who are changing America by changing the people and Harpstead is one of those change agents.

Somalis have been resettled for decades in Minnesota thanks originally to three federal resettlement contractors (there are more now), but the original three working for the US State Department are Lutheran Social Services, Catholic Charities and World Relief.  See my 2011 report here at RRW.

Here is the story in the St. Cloud Times, yesterday.

Harpstead doesn’t understand why there should be resistance to changing the demographic make-up of small American cities and towns.

The state leader of a nonprofit organization that helps resettle refugees in Minnesota told a St. Cloud audience Tuesday that the recent negative response to Lutheran Social Service’s longstanding program was one of her biggest frustrations of the past year.

[….]

St. Cloud has added about 4,500 new foreign-born residents in the last 15 years, a 6 percent increase in the city’s population, Harpstead said.

Lutheran Social Service has resettled fewer than 1,000 of those; the rest have come on their own through secondary migration, she said. LSS plans to resettle about 215 refugees in St. Cloud this year.

She gives some other interesting bits of information such as the fact that they have their eyes on other towns in Minnesota (Worthington, Mankato, and Pelican Rapids), but maybe that isn’t new to those of you living there.

They are paid by the head, but this is a drop in the bucket in terms of the money they receive through government contracts.

But, I can’t believe she had the audacity to utter the last line below:

Lutheran Social Service works with refugees for the first eight months after their arrival, helping them find jobs and housing. Refugees receive a one-time grant of $1,125, plus a loan for travel expenses that must be repaid.

LSS of Minnesota receives $850 per individual. Less than $1 million of the $123 million in total revenue LSS will receive in 2016 is from refugee resettlement, she said.

“No one gets rich doing this work,” Harpstead said.

It would be one thing if Lutheran church-goers were shelling out the money to run this so-called ‘religious’ charity and pay her huge salary and benefits package, but they aren’t.  LSS of Minnesota is a quasi-government agency since the vast majority of its $89,384,263 income (reported on page 9 Form 990, 9/30/2014) comes from government fees and contracts.

They actually say on that tax return that their mission is: “Express the love of Christ for all people through service that changes lives and builds community.”  [Where is the ACLU on the separation of church and state this time?]

And, as for no one getting rich, Harpstead’s salary and benefits package (including related income) for that year was $387,360!  To put that in perspective that is a higher salary than US Supreme Court Justices and twice as much as US Senators and Members of Congress pull down.

LSS has nine other employees over 6-figures!

When you read the St. Cloud Times story be sure to take note of the “My neighbor is a Muslim” campaign that LSS is promoting  as well.

If I lived in Minnesota, knowing that your elected leaders are hopelessly supportive of changing the demographics of Minnesota, I think I would work on investigating LSS in 2016 and exposing them at every turn.

The first thing I would want to know is how are they going from an annual income of $89 million in 2014 to $123 million in 2016!
